A Day of Enquiries, Engagement and Enforcement in Piccadilly

The Piccadilly Gardens Team has been on duty today, with the vast majority of the shift dedicated to supporting the ongoing enquiries into high-risk missing child Lillia. Further details regarding the missing person can be found on the City Centre Police Facebook page.

The team’s focus throughout the day has been on progressing enquiries, gathering information and supporting the wider response to help locate Lillia and ensure her safe return.

In between these enquiries, officers continued to support activity in and around Piccadilly Gardens.

PC Duffy assisted the Street Engagement Team, where he detained a Vietnamese national on suspicion of illegal entry to the UK. The circumstances were subsequently dealt with through the appropriate immigration and policing processes.

PC Simm also took action after observing a male in a public place with his underwear around his ankles, exposing his private area. He was arrested on suspicion of an offence relating to the incident.

Sergeant Jon Wyatt, of the Piccadilly Gardens Neighbourhood Policing Team, said:

“Today is a good example of the breadth of work our team deals with. Our priority has rightly been supporting the urgent enquiries to locate Lillia, but even while carrying out those enquiries, officers have continued to engage with partners, identify concerns in the Gardens and take action when offences are brought to their attention.

“It’s important that we remain visible, proactive and responsive. The team have worked hard today, balancing safeguarding enquiries with the day-to-day demands of policing Piccadilly Gardens and making sure that where we identify issues, we take appropriate action.”

The Piccadilly Gardens Team will continue to support the wider City Centre response, with safeguarding, engagement and enforcement remaining key priorities.
